Emotional Wellness Checklist

Emotional wellness is the ability to successfully handle life’s stresses and adapt. Be your healthiest self this summer.

Brighten your outlook. Rather than dwelling too long on your negative thoughts and experience, try to hold on to positive ones. It is easier to bounce back from a bad experience when you have a lot of great things that keep you grounded.

Reduce stress. Stress is inevitable and everyone is most likely to go through it day to day. It is what causes that rush of energy when you need it but stress that lasts longer is harmful. Assess your body and how it responds to relaxation. It is important to find an effective relaxing method for your mind and body.

Get quality sleep. Sleep is vital to your well-being, sacrificing sleep to do more work or errands is not worth it. When your body is tired it fails to function properly and compromises your focus as well. Make sure you get full hours of sound sleep despite how time-demanding your work or school seems.

Be mindful. This means to be aware of your surroundings. Rather than living your life on “autopilot” and letting life pass you by, why not take more time observing your surroundings, what you do, and people you meet. Take things slow enough to be able to find life’s tiny quirks, after all, it is what makes life worthwhile.

Strengthen social connections. It could be a romantic partner, family, friends, or even that waitress at your favorite restaurant. Social connections have a huge influence on our well-being. It is good to create healthy relationships with people, no matter how trivial their role may seem to you.
